Browns v. Jets observations

The Browns crushed the Jets 37–20 and clinched a playoff spot for the 2nd time in four years. This was another bloodbath of biblical proportions. Below are my observations from the game.

  • No Amari Cooper — just plug in David Njoku…bad running game previous three games — bring Nick Chubb in for pregame festivities and the running backs go nuts across the board. It didn’t matter, the Browns just find a way. Having trouble? Just break it down and figure it out! It’s been the Browns mantra all season. Awesome to see another ass kicking!
  • Even the most positive Browns fan out there probably didn’t see this coming. I mean come on?! You lose Chubb, Conklin, Watson, and a slew of other players and it just didn’t matter? Past Browns teams would’ve broken down, but this team just never did. Beat the 49ers with PJ Walker…what?! Knock of the Steelers with a rookie? Yah thats it! Bring on a veteran who hasn’t played particularly well the last few seasons and he just goes nuts immediately?! Other teams do this, but not the Browns. The Steelers and Ravens constantly had randoms come in and just tear it up. Now the Browns are THAT team. It’s just surreal and I’m enjoying the ride! Who knows how long this will last and quite frankly who cares! This has been an enjoyable team to watch. Stressful team to watch. At times annoying team to watch (turnovers), but they are still winning. Since starting out 2–2, the Browns have been 9–3 since. They’ve won 4 in a row. Their play at home has been beyond dominant. Their lone home loss was because they never prepped a rookie to start and did things last minute. Interesting they never made that mistake again. The road games were dicey and still concerning, but their last road game? Against a team still in the playoff hunt, they crushed them. They’ve scored 30+ points in 3 of last 4 games. This Cleveland Browns team is doing things previous ones never did. The 2020 team got lucky with some weather games and scheduling and of course few fans to impact games. The Butch Davis teams fought hard but always crumbled in weird ways and that never got better. The 1994 team had their moments but couldn’t get past elite teams, ditto for the late 80s squads. The Browns are the only team in the league to beat the 49ers and Ravens, who just so happen to be the top teams in their respective conferences. This team can take on anyone and they have the irrational confidence to do so. THAT is what’s scary. Back up and third string running backs and QBs…phffffttttt…we got this! Bringing on practice squad safeties to fill in for star safeties (Hickman and Bell for Delpit and McLeod) — no problem, we got this!! Lose half your offensive line, just throw it 45 times, we got this!!!
  • One more game against the Bengals, Browns either rest guys or play hard to get #1 seed and win division. I’m so happy about this team. This is what Browns fans have been dreaming and striving for. We don’t need perfection, we need competence at least and just be contenders at best. Yes all the injuries suck, would love to have guys back, but this team is RESILIENT and TOUGH. Those go a long way! GO BROWNS!!
