Browns v. Ravens observations

The Browns stunned the folks in Baltimore with a 33–31 win and improved to 6–3 and inching closer to the division lead in the AFC North. Below are my observations

  • I still can’t believe the Browns pulled this off. At times this felt like the Seattle game where they would inch close and then things would fall apart and there was no return. Just incredible how they found a way to win!
  • As the famous philosopher, JR Smith once said, ‘Keep it 100!’, so lets do that. Watson sucked in the first half but was great in the second half. In fact in the latter half he didn’t have a single in-completion! Also made plays with his legs. Made better throws and of course got the Browns on the scoreboard when needed! Now — if he can just start out games the right way
  • I don’t know if the Ravens really blew this game. I think the Browns just played a lot better and really the Ravens didn’t have much after the first quarter. It was like all their momentum was mostly used up and they had a big enough lead. This wasn’t a choke job either by the Ravens, the Browns just got tougher and found a way to win. Just a true win by the Browns in a game that had two different halves.
  • It was funny to read some commentary about how the Browns had faith and confidence Watson would turn it around. Sorry I’m calling BS! haha, no one knew cause he’s never done it and there was nothing to hang a hat on. The guy was basically limping in the locker room at half and who knows if he was going to play. They’re saying it now cause they won, which of course. BUT it’s clear Watson can get through adversity and this was a big a moment as possible. I was impressed to say the least!
  • I chalked this game as a ‘prove me wrong’ game and early on I wasn’t impressed and was NOT proven wrong, but THEN something happened throughout the second half. The Browns did quicker throws on offense, ran the ball harder, Njoku balled out with physicality, then the defense came through by equalizing the early pick-6. The Browns finally took advantage of the little things in the second half, granted those holding calls were tough to swallow on defense. But still they continued to fight back. They proved me wrong today and I’m happy to report to that!
  • Jerome Ford gets a lot of shit, but thought he ran well today, the pass out of the backfield on 3rd and 2 was huge. The big run where he made the Ravens run with the pile at the end on the game winning drive. That was grown man stuff. It’s nice to see. Sometimes he annoys me but I have to remember he’s not Nick Chubb.
  • This was biggest win for the Browns this season. It being a road division game made #1 in my book. So tough to beat the Ravens and the way this started it could’ve been a bloodbath. I felt if the Browns crawled back they’d have a chance. Thought after the OBJ TD it may have been a wrap cause I didn’t think the Browns were capable to finally score TDs. The muffed punt…brutal and that should’ve closed it, but the Browns just found ways to get it done! Finally! The Ravens do this, the fucking Steelers do it all the time!! The Patriots used to do it! All great teams get wins like this. This was different from the 49ers game where I felt like they disrespected the Browns and there was some home cooking going on too!
  • So we are onto the Steelers and its at home. The Browns have got to finish this business and not lose any momentum from this week! It’s still going to be a tough division game and the Browns are notorious for almost sleep walking the following games after big wins. Get this done, they’re 7–3 and probably eying or in first place with 7 to go. The schedule is decent after the Steelers as I’ve written. Jags/Texans are tough and of course end with Bengals and division may still be tight. Here’s the thing, the Browns are BETTER than the Steelers, they gotta play like that. This is a Steelers team operating on thin margins and their QB stinks. They just get by every week. It’s time to shut that shit down too! Great win today, now go do it again next week!! GO BROWNS!
